If you are feeling feisty accentuate your warrior traits. If you are feeling divine become more goddess like. No matter what you decide, you are sure to make a fine impression at the party in this costume. Better still, go as the Greek goddess of war, Athena or the similar Roman goddess of war, Minerva.
This costume consists of a faux leather dress with halter neck. The skirt is a full length black color with flaps on either side up to the hips. The top half of the outfit is meant to represent a armored chest plate /bodice. It also has a black/brown color with gold detailing on the front to make it stand out. The armor/bodice is laced up on each side and ties up at the hips too.
There are matching lace-up wrist cuffs to give it that warrior touch. Add a sword and shield if you want to accentuate the warrior inside you. Or add a laurel or headpiece if you want to be more goddess like.
This Roman or Greek goddess costume is a simple and elegant costume that looks fabulous. For background on the costume, learn a little about Athena or Minerva
Athena or Minerva was the Goddess of war and wisdom in Ancient Greece and Rome respectively. In the case of Athena, she often helped human heroes achieve their aims and protected them in some way. For instance, in the Tale of Perseus she counsels the hero on how to defeat the snake headed Medusa. She provides guidance as he battles other creatures.
In ancient Greece she was an influential goddess. For example, she gave her name the the city of Athens and is the patron of the city. She was also revered in the State of Sparta, where warfare and combat and the preparation for these endeavors was the main occupation of the men of this nation. Thus her status as goddess of war was focal to their lifestyle.
