Love Goddess Adult Costume
The Love Goddess Adult Costume is inspired by Aphrodite or maybe Venus when in Rome. It is a classic style dress that you expect Greek gods and goddesses to wear if you have ever watched films like class of the Titans or know anything about Greek mythology.

However it has been modernized a touch to make it look more fashionable and relevant (and probably more comfortable too although toga type costumes could never really be labeled as uncomfortable). It would make a great costume for this years Halloween party if you want to look like a vision in white and pink or be a Greek goddess.
The costume consists of a Grecian style dress. Essentially it is a white toga style dress with a pink ruffled midriff. Attached to the midriff and shoulder is a chiffon pink drape that affixes to the dress with two gold heart broaches. The dress has gold trim around the bust line and white sleeve drapes. No goddess is complete without her laurel or headpiece. This Greek goddess costume has a gold headpiece or crown with heart shapes as a relief on the crown.
The costume is a modern update on the Greek god Aphrodite. She was the Greek goddess of Love and was so beautiful that the other gods, notably Zeus, feared that it would make other gods jealous. And she is not above jealously herself. In fact she is quite a capricious goddess and I guess she is a good representation of the strong, and at times irrational, passions that overcome people who are in the maelstrom of sentiment we describe as love.
For instance, she demonstrates all the petty sentiments like jealously and revenge in the story of Eros and Psyche. Eros was here son (also known as Cupid from Roman mythology) and Psyche was a beautiful human woman. Aphrodite was jealous of her beauty so casts a spell on her so that she would only fall in love with hideous creatures. Well at least she tells her son Eros to cast the spell on Psyche. But he is entranced by her beauty and cannot do it. Aphrodite seeks revenge on her son and Psyche and everything ends in tears for Aphrodite, Eros and Psyche. Poor old Psyche, she didn’t do anything wrong really except for looking too beautiful.
So despite all her foibles, Aphrodite would be quite a character to go as to the Halloween party.
